My guess, seriously, since I'm bored on a Monday afternoon is that Pokemon was a heavy capitalist society that has automated away the majority of labour and predominantly exists in an anarcho communist state with trainers using their own unique currency backed by mutual understanding and corporations that are purely nonprofits, with some organizations who exist to create surplus goods
