>>47738331The shadow pokemon not only have a lot more variety but their mechanics have been updated so there's more shadow moves which use the physical/special split, hyper mode no longer kills a turn to activate but also causes the pokemon to hurt itself at the end of each turn to make it less op, missed shadow mons are a lot easier to get, and the purification chamber makes it much quicker to purify everything - though I feel it's given to you too early and it discourages you from actually using the various shadow pokemon and experimenting with the new moves. There's also a few qol changes like save being moved to the pause menu instead of the pc, all shops having balls, and wild mons giving you unlimited trade fodder if you don't want to remove any of the shadow mons from the save file, however not sure if storage will expand or not to allow anything near a complete 386 living dex as I've never tried to catch enough to fill the default space.
