Leon is clearly of skin tone 3 decent due to the nature of Galar colonialism there are a lot of skin tone 3 immigrants in Galar some living there several generations now.

I know this may seem unfamiliar to Unovans but there are actually more skin type3 immigrants in Galar than skin type 4. It's a big world out there with alot of history I don't think that the black and white relationship race relationships so commonly focused on in Unova should be the lenses through which you view the world.

From what little we saw of him he's a really fucking strong trainer, he didn't have the red Gyarados for long by the time we saw him in AG and it was fully capable of stalemating a Kyogre's hyper beam with its own. The only other champion that feels as impressive in the show is Steven, who I'd have also been happy to see. Plus they made Gyarados vs Charizard a lot more even than I would have expected honestly.
