Too much customization ruins games. There comes to a point where nothing seems like "the Best choice" and I quit the game because of it. Idk why, but I can't enjoy games like Mario Maker or New Horizons because of it.

I don’t see the point. I never really cared for being able to name rivals either. I’d rather just get a character who fits the story.

It's less to do about design and more about control. It's the same reason why people could make a great story, but wouldn't have fun in the same regard as someone else who is consuming the material. Making stuff isn't the reason why I like to play games.
