I played it and while not a terrible game, or even a strictly bad one, it's so painfully mediocre that it feels like the devs are slapping me with the level of apathy the game ends up causing

Seriously, it's the hardest Pokemon game ever made, but that's because dragging your ass to the finish line has never felt like such a fucking slog

Fun is a buzzword because it's inarticulate.

I quit the series during Sun/Moon and the Go craze because I felt the games had become trash and were going in an utterly soulless direction. When SwSh was announced I thought it looked really cool, but then everyone started non-stop shitting on it from when the dexcut was announced and all I saw for a year after release was "THE GAME IS BAD SO BAD DONT BUY IT". I finally got around to playing Sword in Christmas last year and, what do you know, I enjoy it more than any Pokemon game since gen 5 and it's restored my faith in the series. After this whole debacle I learned never to trust Pokemon fans "mainstream opinion" on any game because you're all fucking retarded and gay.

The dialogue is so heavy handed I turned the game off during the tutorial. Dropped it for months. Ended up just doing a gym every couple weeks. Made it to the 8th gym before I sold off my copy.

Part of the problem amongst others, considering 'fight eight easy ass gyms with coverage and thwart a tryhard '''antagonist''' before being the chosen one and champ' is boring as fuck and so forgettable that the board goes to shitposting in way less than a year on a 1.5 year release cycle.
