Why is this game's story so shit? Pokemon was never renowed for its clever plots but after Sun and Moon having a semi-decent story you'd think the next entry would only get it better instead of reaching new lows.
What is Marnie's purpose in the story beyond carrying the road-blocking grunts with her? Why do we not see Bede for half the game when he's one of the most interesting character in the game? Why does fucking nothing happen during the gym trial and then in like the last hour of the game everything happen all at once? Why does our character even go to Rose's tower when by that point neither our character nor Hop have any reason to not trust Rose or worry about Leon? Why is Rose suddenly such a retard when he's shown to be level-headed throughout the game? Why is Eternatus not foreshadowed at all when he's so important to the plot and lore?
