This period of pokemon is fucking boring. Nothing on the horizon but a pointless "remake" and a spin-off that will be forgotten in a month or less since there's no online and probably little longtivity / replay value.
I'm hoping gen 9 is still next year because we need new content to consume and theorize about

No one's going to be doing that because of the disappointment that's followed after doing that for the past few hype seasons. Hell, SwSh "hype" season had barely anything to it, and yet what little fans speculated about ended up being way more engaging than whatever the fuck was going on in SwSh.

Honestly, I'd rather Pokemon just stop for a while. One game a generation is enough, usually. Like the most mainline Mario titles a console has ever had is like 3, right? It's highly unusual to have more than one other Nintendo franchise a generation, and when they do they tend to be on ass ends of a console's lifespan (Zelda games release so late in a console's lifespan that they tend to be launch titles for the next console as well). And guess what, the games usually come out fine, barring the occasional weird design decision or whatever the fuck ACNH is doing (there's been stuff that we've known is coming for over a fucking year that isn't in the game yet). I guess the point is, video games aren't toys, you can't make a new one every three years with a subline imprint every year. It's completely unviable and Pokemon is going to crash and burn at some point, unless they make some big changes. SS is them attempting to make things easier on them and it's still super scuffed. Eventually what goodwill they do have will evaporate, and before you say people will eat it up no matter what, Blizzard is struggling right now because they keep destroying all the goodwill they built up by making really bad decisions. It's not going to happen all at once, it's a gradual thing. We'll see how it pans out though, there's always time to course correct.

If Pokemon dies it won't be because of the games. The games aren't important. They literally only exist now to sell merchandise. They have to be released annually to keep up interest, but this demand is comfortably met and TPC assumes no risk for any dumb thing GF does. That's what this board doesn't get, these games are basically just FIFA or Madden now, they're not even really games, just necessities.
Blizzard is also getting fucked over muh sexual abuse nonsense, and TPC would just use its Yakuza connections to sort out any problematic employee in that case.

There's a pattern of each game getting lazier with less content. There's nothing to discuss. They've been silent for months on content for either of the new Sinnoh games, that should be a red flag right there. They're not typically shy about marketing game content.

People want shit to do in their games, that's what people want.

The whole thing about people complaining about revealing too much came from ORAS' launch, and it's more that people were expecting to be surprised with more than we got. The other side of it is people wanted a more robust postgame, but all we got was a short story episode that was pretty lame and a maison repackage. If there was more than that I don't think anyone would be complaining that it all got revealed too early.

The problem NOW is knowing that they bare pretty much everything pre-launch. Their silence on the matter is a red flag. You know what the last game was that was largely silent on content pre-release? LGPE. Which was pretty barebones compared to FRLG.

So the fact that they're silent on BDSP's content means we're probably not going to see anything newer than what was in DPPt. Maybe it'll be different, I personally hope it'll be different, but as it stands now it's going to be an inferior DPPt and that's nothing to be excited about.

There's a not insignificant chance that after the move into their offices, Nintendo pulled a few strings and shook a few things around GF's office to avoid another team splitting scenario like LGPE/Little Town Hero/SwSh were guilty of (it would explain why the literally unprecedented outsourcing happened)

It's a puzzle rails hooter, basically. If you just barrel through it, you'll only get maybe 8 hours or so, but each stage has 1-3 versions, plus a night variant with a different path and its own 1-3 versions. There are cool boss stages that also have later versions with more pokemon to get. If you are going for completion, it has ridiculous amounts of content with each of the 200 something pokemon having 4 different levels of interaction to take photos of, and a ranking system for each pose. After beating the game legendaries appear in each stage, and it gets really indepth when trying to go for high score runs and fulfil requests (they are like hints for rare or esoteric interactions posing as sidequests). Some of the secret poses and requests are extremely cryptic, and can be frustrating even if you are patient. It's rewarding to play casually or completionist, and I enjoyed it far more than I imagined I would have given the state of the modern game industry, and still haven't 100% completed it. And now it's getting a free expansion of 3 or so more stages and some new pokemon placed in the old stages.

No problem, hope you enjoy it. I will say, I ended up burning myself out on it after playing the first several stages about 100 times over going to 100% on each (after beating the game, that is). I will be going back to it for sure, but my advice to anyone playing it is to not lock yourself down TOO hard to single stages, and go elsewhere if you are starting to have less fun in an area. Plus you never know when you come back to it with a fresh take and some new ideas for fulfilling certain weirdass requests.
