Pokemon fusion, similar to the Kyuren forms but with more pokemon, or combination moves, like the pledges from starters, but with wider combinations. I think the latter is more likely, since doubles is the official format. Pick related could be an example.

You can fuse with you pokemon to create a new form. However, you can only fuse with mons that are the SAME gender as your player character.

hopefully no gimmick, first it was mega evolution, pokemon can no longer mega evolve, now some pokemon have a gigantamax gene, they won't be able to grow and transform anymore, will they still have that gene in future games? it won't matter. Just stop the battle gimmicks

I hope to FUCK they never put fusions in the game. Game Freak managed to fuck up just simply scaling the existing 3D models up for Dynamax, can you imagine how badly they would half-ass a fusion mechanic?

Nope, sorry, gimmicks are made with the express purpose of producing merchandise now, and it's all thanks to Yo-Kai Watch.
They fucked up the whole point of Maxing in that it's stupid expensive to translate into merch sure, but they're still new to this since their last merch-friendly gimmick was basically their answer to the Yo-Kai Watch and Medals in the form of the Z-Ring and Z-Crystals. Maxing had no equivalent to gauge.
