If it doesn't have a gyms, trainers, or the elite 4, then what does it have besides catching pokemon?

Nintendo got away with releasing a Zelda game without items or dungeons, so now Game Freak is attempting the same thing with Pokemon

Hopefully exploration and a sense of discovery.
I would also assume there are some form of "boss" battles in place of traditional gyms, whether that comes in the form of legendary or otherwise enhanced pokemon, clan chieftains or whatever else they decide on.
