Game Freak are going to be the only devs that don't gouge with DLC, due to them unashamedly making games targeting children. Even the pull of the DLC was added as a free update to all players, allowing them to bring their own in or trade for them, if they wanted them.
But anything to deny a new Gen after three years, especially while covid fucked everyone else over, because they didn't start offering work from home till the shit hit the fan, unlike Game Freak who offered it routinely to all staff by 2018 and who stepped naturally into the new normal, continuing to release their content on time while devs elsewhere push back or delay their work.
