Played Shield and holy fuck is the probabilities in this game dogshit. Successions of flinch attacks and crits. Not to mention the high prob of stat like para from electric moves. These things used to be rare, and were bonuses around the attack, not meant to be handed out like participation trophies. Then the match up against your regular npcs means they can be 10 levels lower and still pose a good match, but if it were the reverse for me I would get my guts rearranged. Played hoenn and sinnoh to make sure I wasn’t going crazy, nope. Is this what they consider pokemon these days? Did the devs coombrain too much on pogo and forget how its mechanics used to work?
