Why does Ice only resist itself?

Is it defensively weak because it counters Dragon? Because that would make no sense considering Fairy is very powerful defensively and IMMUNE to Dragon. Even worse Water pokemon gets Ice attacks so there;s no reason to use Ice with all those weaknesses..

there would be if GF wasn't retarded and decided that a type with 1 resistance and 4 weaknesses should have multiple defensive pokemon and very few actual sweepers or offensively powerful pokemon.
Or they just make them straight up shitmons like Glailie.

I understand that Ice would be too powerful with many resistances considering how strong is offensively, but one more resistance probably wouldn't be broken.
What should it resist, Dragon, Flying, or Ground?

These tools have been somewhat successful, but really only make a small handful of Ice types decent, the ones that can best abuse those tools, The vast majority are left to languish even if they’re tailor made to be good in battle otherwise (Avalugg comes to mind) purely because of their typing

only adds to the issue of GF treating Ice like a defensive typing when it has 4 weaknesses and 1 resist.
A rebalance for Ice could be good but honestly they just need more Weaviles, G-Darmanitan's Mamoswines and Glastriers. Actual offensively-focused Ice-types that take full advantage of the ridiculous power that the type's moves provide.

Aurora Veil is shit too. I don't care that some random jap won his nationals with an Alolan-Ninetails in his party: It does the exact same fucking thing as Light Screen and Reflect together, doesn't stack with them, must be set up during weather and is a move only avaliable to shitmons.
