I recently played X and while I usually have animations off I like them on for gym battles and such. It was weird how the game didnt do animation and text at the same time, it was always one then the other.
Even when animations were off it was an issue though. You still see faint animations, then “pokemon fainted!” for a second instead of at the same time. Just flabbergasting. There are also weather and status animations that play even when anims are off, and I dont just mean they’re going on in the background. The camera has to point at and highlight them THEN text talks about them, every time.
My response to the OP is, just put all of showdown’s qol changes into the real games. I dont mean for training but just the basic shit for battles. Let me see what type(s) the opponent is, let me check data for my attacks/mons easily instead of going through 3 menus to do it, have a decent speed and when animations are off have them fucking be off.
