Honestly, sometimes it seems like James is the most capable of the three of the known Team Rocket, with his knowledge in mechanics and his creativity to do whatever the fuck those overcomplicated robots of his.

Most of the pokemon he catches join him on their own volition.

Also the only one that keeps his head on the mission, such as the time he found an Omanyte and Jesse just called it ugly even after James said they could give it to their boss since it's a rare pokemon (Remember this is the whole reason why they're after Ash's Pikachu)

I thought Meowth was the mastermind behind their mechas, but it wouldn't surprise me if James or Jesse also helped make them, considering their limited manpower and the sheer scale of those things.

It's amusing to picture them carrying out their normal hijinks and then suddenly slipping into a highly complex engineering argument full of technical jargon. All three of them are geniuses working the wrong job.

Aipom, for pick-pocketing/stealing and getting into small or difficult to access places. Second is Lombre because he´s also a mischievous gremlin and I love him. Dex says it is often mistaken for a human child so he could act as a decoy sometimes. And finally a Snorlax to intimidate foes but who actually never does anything because he´s too lazy/good hearted/doesn´t give a fuck.

He also created a robot that looked like a Gengar with mirror glassed eyes so that any kind of psychic attack would be reflected back to the owner 'which would also dampen their friendship because of the loss'.

Later seasons they would stop making robots and James would get more dumb besides when he's doing one of his speeches.

You know, I actually recall james being a brainiac in early seasons, but the wiki says Meowth gets the credit for (at least Sinnoh's) mechs. So I don't know.

James or not though, the fact that they can design these huge ass robots with such wide variety of skills is still impressive. They need to be more appreciated.
