The problem is Game Freak from top to bottom.
Nearly everyone there is incompetent.

Morimoto's only flaw is be shit at competitive balance, which can be solved by hiring some Smoggies make sure each Pokemon can be usable, so we don't have competitive trainwrecks like most of the Johto region.

Those were Platinum and Black/White. HG/SS is not a fun game and putting it between the best makes that ever more apparent. Johto is still as crap as it was on the Game Boy and Kanto is only marginally better though you still just steamroll through it in two to four hours just like the old days.

That doesn't excuse the slow 25 hours it takes to get there. And even then you're just getting Platinum's content again.

Assets are remade from scratch and textures too anon

All the stuff that was taken from the original game (which was only 8 bit) had to be recreated from scratch with reinvention (since that you can't replicate a 8bit concept in 2.5d), so there was a good direction in recreating/giving it life on screen when a direct version doesn't exist to be enhanced.

No lol, you might have the bases but you can reinvent still the whole game and add lots of stuff that didn't exist in the originals.
