-LA: two distinct routes: Collection and Research. Your ‘Pokédex’ is the sketch book you see in the trailers where your character writes a log after a catch. One of the research tasks leads you to stumble on the Arceus plate with your starters typing (different quest branches for different starter choices is how they’ll vary it with one version). A large section of the plot is then collecting the 18 plates which the Professor becomes interested in. 10 of these will be found through quests and by defeating “Terrain Kings” - Pokémon who’ve been altered by exposure to an arceus plate. (Note this isn’t the same as the “King battles” as seen in the stakeholder slideshow leak - they are random occurrence encounters for rewards). The other eight plates will be located in settlements around the region full of the indigenous people. Spiritomb side quest related to the ghost plate. the blacked out silhouettes are new Pokémon or more specifically - “Relic Forms” of current Pokémon. Connection with BDSP.
