Besides not playing the game at all, the next best thing is picking Sobble so Hop rightfully gets a rabbit Pokemon, Leon doesn't get a second Fire type, and you immediately boxing Sobble as soon as you catch a Pokemon on the first route.

It was essentially history repeating itself. Hop was robbed of not one but two dreams. So he setted for something else like Sonia did. Their dynamics mimic each other. Victor/Gloria, Hop and Bede follow the same beats as Leon, Sonia and Nessa did during their journey. Arguably Raihan also fits for Hop in regards to his brother.
