i decided to hunt the latis via DA as a chill hunt before i go after my full sets of balltism/gendertismed eeveelutions - one in swsh one in gen 4.

got latios within a reasonable time but ive now seen over 1000 pokemon and still no latias. DA hunting fucking sucks, not making it to the target half the time is so disheartening

Why are you shiny hunting? Aren't you wasting a huge amount of time for some lines of code?
If you like a particular color, you can always inject them too. And circling around isn't really fun.
Not trying to be judgmental, Im genuinely confused. Maybe it's something to occupy your hands while relaxing watching TV?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I usually hunt with a video or whatever on. As for why we don't inject, knowing that *we* got our shiny after however long hunting makes it more satisfying. Its probably not for everyone but I like it :)

Went hunting for a Shiny Vigoroth using Island Scan in Sun on Route 11.
As soon as I step foot in the tall grass, the first Pokemon I encounter is a Shiny Vigoroth.
As if that wasn't lucky enough, its a male (I wanted a male), and the Synchronizer worked.

I used to shiny hunt but nowadays it just seems like a waste of time to sink 3-4 hours a day hatching eggs when that time could be spent elsewhere getting ahead in other games

it's just for the picture. I normally have choice specs on gengar, choice scarf on furret, black sludge on ariados, etc. I just thought it's neat that I've been able of putting the appropriate STAB boosting item on all my pokemon so far.

Average is about 2 weeks, maybe 30-40 hours of playtime. Shortest hunt was 5 hours on Dratini, longest was 10 weeks on Ariados. I started the file November 1, 2020

I'm currently at 430ish hours, but it doesn't list the hours I spent soft resetting for Dratini or Omanyte, or the time hunting Spinarark on my HG file. So it's probably somewhere in the low 600 hour range with those factored in
