Been a while since I've posted. Finished gym heroes, and gym challenge was looking prohibitively expensive for now, so I decided to polish off neo genesis first. Not too much was missing (but typhlosion seems spendy, sad).

It's fun when these holos holos show up. I definitely owned each of them at some point of childhood.

Most of them are ones I pulled as a kid. I've only replaced the very damaged ones. I have a complete set of Base Set, Jungle and Fossil, I only need a few more promo cards to complete the binder.

I have Base Set, Jungle, Fossil and promos in Dex order in one binder. Then I have Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge in Gym Leader order, Brock, then Misty, then Lt Surge etc. Followed by Rocket. I have the Neo binder in Dex order, but starting with the Johto Dex, followed by the Kanto Dex.

My intention was to pick my favourite art from each "Gen". For example, all Gen 1's from Base to TR including promos using the 1st card style (would include Gym but having X's Pokemon would fuck with my autism). the way I did my pokedex of cards is I used all the existing cards I had from childhood as a starting point, filled out through gen 2 with base/base 2/neo cards I could find online, and went with art I liked for cards I couldn't get old copies of in gen 2 into gen 3 onwards (or with the only available cards for gen 8)

also to add to this, I also put a few pages at the end of each region before the next one starts to fill out with cards from different sets that I liked enough to keep in a binder but not enough to replace the main card of that pokemon in the 'dex' part, as well as to have all the unown forms. helps with the neverending release of new sets giving occasional good looking cards you want to hold on to.

Why the fuck would you bother asking a wageslave in a box store about it? I thought it was pretty common knowledge now that tcg gets restocked by vendors on certain days and the people working there probably don't know when that is and can change depending on the vendors schedule, and sometimes fall near the stores restocking day(Walmarts are Friday, Target is Thursday, Pharmacies are Wednesday, etc), AND may only be one day a month in certain areas, for example my Walmart only restocks on the first Friday of the month and never any other time. Yesterday was a huge restock and I was able to grab a bunch of stuff, but no Marnie boxes.

I'm all for asking someone at GameStop or a LGS though, since they might have a closer relationship with a driver who does restocks on tcg. I run deliveries to GameStops from time to time and even the guys behind the counter don't know if they'll get Marnie boxes despite the majority of them trying to find them themselves.

Seeing all of these threads gave me a huge urge to dump all my excess money into Pokemon cards but I don't know how good of an idea it is since the demand is at an all-time high now from what I've understood. check out pokellector.com, it shows images of every card in every set. a good way to cherrypick cards you wanna collect. then i just sort on ebay by cheapest and buy one that isn't in a condition i'm fine with, also you can sometimes get really good discounts through best-offer or auctions cause some cards ppl put up expecting ppl to bid on, no one cares, and it ends up selling for much less than any of the buyitnow listings.

if you're doing it to make money, I would recommend trying the stock market instead.. i've spent a lot of time figuring out what cards go up in price and what don't, and what i've learned is it's not worth my time to care and just buying what I like is the best course of action. the easiest way to make money from pokemon is buying undervalued lots and flipping singles/groups of cards from it, but it takes a lot of time and card knowledge to accomplish, and if you aren't buying expensive lots it's not worth the effort.

as for your old collection, just sleeve anything shiny, and anything in decent condition put in a binder if you haven't already. if you wanna price-check stuff use 130point.com for ebay sold history (it shows best-offer sale price which ebay doesn't) and look at cards in similar condition to yours.

I sincerely doubt that MZ will have any success after it's third set. 1st set is expensive because it's 1st edition shit and most boxes are already damaged making the value go up.
2nd set will have similar success with people wanting to get into the meme
