it's no need that Normal/Ghost must be half alive half dead. You can make something like a living mask referring that some people hide their dark side behind a mask. Yamask could have been a Normal/Ghost Pokemon, for example. Also, there are a lot of creepy animals that can be related with the spiritual world just like Decidueye and Oricorio are.
Bug/Dark is the easiest so far. Any bug can be Bug/Dark if you want. Even a fly can be Bug/Dark instead of Bug/Flying to make the design it less obvious.
