Meme-Ash is a terrible trainer
Fact- Ash is a competent and elite trainer despite setbacks. Consider his record:
Kanto- Top 16(keep in mind he was a rookie at this point and not yet a good trainer)
Orange Island-Won. Haters discount it because its 'filler' and never officially appeared in the games.
Johto- Top 8. Other characters point out that the Blaziken trainer would've won the entire tournament had he not encountered Ash.
Hoenn-Top 8, Lost to the guy who eventually won the Hoenm League
Battle Frontier-Won
Sinnoh-Top 4.Tobias was bullshit and eventually won it all, but Ash was the only person in the tourney who managed to defeat .
some of his Pokemon.
Unova-Top 8.Not much to say, Ash regressed here.
Kalos- Runner Up. We all know the controversy and the writing staff's questionable decisions here.
Alola- Won. Haters will discount it, but he earned the win.
Meme- Gary was a badass because he had cheerleaders following him around and (at the time) better Pokemon than Ash.
Fact- Gary was a jobber. Consider his record:
