This only THEIR fault. They earn shitton of money from games. They have enough money to hire more people. There are many young, talented programmers what grew up on Pokemon that will work for just a hype. Then why GameFreak is so cheap?

seeing as how Sword and Shield sold over 22 million copies.
Entire JRPG franchises that have started before Pokemon haven't even reached half of this number.

First of all, they don't get that much money, TPC pays their wages. Second, you can't simply throw money at the problem and pray for the best, their staff already ballooned to a much bigger size, and it did fuck-all.

Do you think SwSh cost millions of dollars to make OP? Maybe in advertising, but the actual cost of development is probably fuck-all. Even if Pokemon started selling way less it'd still be turning a massive profit.

The problem with Pokemon's inability to improve comes from deeply-rooted "respect your elders" business culture.
No amount of new hires are going to make the game better when ultimately all the shots are called by the geriatrics at top, who will remain at the top until they either die or pass the reins to a chosen successor, who only repeats the cycle of mediocrity.
And then by the time those new hires are next in line to take charge, they've become just as old, jaded and out of touch as those before them.

You can earn better profit if you invest in better games.
Better games means extending the audience and getting more and more money than now.
Merchandise could even double or quadruplicate if they invest

Ah yes pokemon is a billion dollars franchise thus gamefreak is also a billon dollars companies? Most of the sales goes to TPC, games sales goes to nintendo etc. Gamefreak's portion of the sales is just a small portion of the billion dollar franchise.

They can get more money if they invest, becausr they can justificate this by telling TPCi that they invested more in budget and since they improved the quality more and brought many more people in, they should receive more money
