The old artstyle in general looked bad. I think it only looked okay in AG, but DP, BW and even XY looked bad because the characters had to be changed to mimic the anime's artstyle rather than the anime changing its artstyle to match the games.

SM had a great artstyle. Ash looked weird but everyone else looked fine. PM has the best artstyle because it actually matches the games.

Yeah, I have a soft spot for the classic OS style. But that should have stayed with the OS. AG-XY all look like shit because the designs are dated.
