I think Thwackey's pretty great too.
And I adore Rillaboom. He's not my favorite starter, but he's damn close and he's got a fun design with special animations in amie to add in some detail (like showing that he actually stores his sticks in his leafy "sleeves", giving that design choice an actual reason to be there besides giving him grass). Considering secondary inspirations and move usages I don't even mind the drum, because he could be using it in a wide variety of ways other than just "sit still and bang on drum" (I imagine he uses Wood Hammer by just bashing skulls in with it as a club, or he could even pick the Stump up to use as a makeshift shield).
