It was the most enjoyable Pokemon experience I've had since Gen 4, but that is mainly because of all the freedom Gen 1 had. After beating Erika I went to Fuchsia City, got surf, and then had free reign over nearly the entire region. I ended up fighting Blaine before Koga or Sabrina. It was such a breath of fresh air, even though Gen 1 is 25 years old, after the games continued to get more restrictive and focused less on exploring and more on story.
Plus I liked the games artstyle from the get go, and never really got the collective asshurt about it. Hopefully, we'll see a Let's Go 2 in the future.
