Has the series ever explained why Pokemon are o obsessed with fighting that even wild Pokemon organize their own fighting competitions?

No, if a Pokemon uses Flamethrower on you, you die. The shit you're mentioning is just a non-canon gag. Plenty of cartoons have characters do things they can't actually do or survive things they can't actually survive for the sake of comedy.

Not entirely true. Pokemon world humans are pokemon otherwise they wouldn't be able to use secret techniques and physic powers. For a pokemon to actually kill a human with something weak like flamethrower they'd need to at least be strong enough to kill a pidgey or whatever low level garbage.

They aren't Pokemon. Those are just special humans with superpowers. They aren't any stronger or more durable than real-life humans outside of cartoon physics. Humans are separate from Pokemon and are incapable of learning moves.

Pokemon can however kill with their natural abilities. A Charizard breathing magic fire on you with Flamethrower may not kill you, but a Charizard breathing its regular boulder-melting fire on you will.

yes, using them for something like war is unethical and a decent plot can be made about that

but Pokemon exist FOR humans and also they LOVE to fight. the ones that are too softhearted or disinterested in it shouldn't be made to do it, sure, but the majority of them are combative as fuck.

While the series has increasingly made Pokemon just be the animals of their world, there still are parts where they are monsters, namely JRPG monsters. They fight all the time for the same reason Slimes and Goblins fight in Dragon Quest.

They never have after excising Shudo from the series though. They portray them exactly as the plot necessitates - whether that be supporting cast to the humans or as proprietors/agony-aunts/Trial captains, depending on where the story leads. Hell, even the pokémon-only episodes portray them as human-like mentalities, in creature bodies - a far fucking cry from the bestial minded things we share our earth with.

What I mean is that they fulfill the function of replacing normal wildlife. Like in Gen 1 and 2 there was still the idea that the normal ecosystem was chugging along outside all the cute monsters, but since Gen 3 it's that's been swept under the rug, so their aren't any Frogs, just Frogadiers, etc. So people sometimes forget that just because Lycanrock replaces wolves in the food chain or whatever, it isn't still a JRPG monster that like to start fight clubs and befriend children to go on journeys with.

What is it with you people thinking everything has to be 1:1? Do you think Yogi Bear isn’t a bear because he talks, wears a tie and drives a car? It’s as if you people like to ignore context. When people say that about Pokémon is because of the way they’re portrayed. Sure the exhibit anthropomorphic behavior, and to be sure 99.9999% of them don’t exhibit as much human behavior as the examples above, but the series still portrays them in a particular manner. And I think after New Pokémon Snap there can be no denying it. It’s worth bringing up again for the million time that the game where Pokémon are given agency in the wild they’re almost all given, Pikachu being an exception, animalistic cries as well as being portrayed in a wild animal sort of way on top of the game portraying itself as a fantastical safari tour. The fact that they even gave Pokémon who don’t have real world parallels animalistic cries speaks volumes.

Not really, specialists like Blackbelts are known to be able to keep up with their ludicrously strong fighting types in direct sparring matches, even those that wouldn't know much in the way of physical restraint, and Drayden literally wrestled with his dragons back in the day to earn their trust and respect.

Again I already adresses your point that Pokémon show anthropomorphic behavior. In the case of your clip yes Primarina puts up an‘concert’ but not in the sense that he’s selling tickets to others in a man-made stadium. It’s done so in a way that doesn’t clash with the aesthetic they’re going for. Again this is not uncommon at all in fiction. Even live action shows the same, the famous dog lassie in her show could understand people and people could understand her. It’s fiction but it’s also clear that these fictional works are trying to evoke something.
