Sword and Shield on the other hand tried to push the gen 7 artstyle further than they were capable of pushing it on the 3DS, but they either weren't capable or weren't willing to push it to the level of other open world Switch games and as a result people were disappointed. Both SWSH and BDSP have fundamental flaws in their artstyles, and each are born from a general lack of creativity in terms of visual presentation. You're treating it as if there are only two possibilities for potential artstyles, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
