>>47860264>it adds buzzword, buzzword, and buzzword>I don't understand it so it's a buzzword! Those are all reasons why people actually play the games instead of simply popping onto Showdown. They're the reasons why people WANT things like complex routes and dungeons, challenge in video games, and more pokemon interaction. It's why games like Pokemon Snap sell millions of copies even though they both would have flopped without the Pokemon title on the cover.
The point of an RPG is to immerse yourself in a role. Gamification of elements are convenient but create a rift between that.
>I’m pretty sure even back then I didn’t need to have a Dodrio or Rapidash in my party just have faster walking speed.Being able to ride a Pokemon as a substitute for a bike sounds like an excellent idea, you're onto something. Didn't Let's Go have Pokemon riding?
>>47860271It's the exact same mindset.
Having to visit a PC to take advantage of moves wastes time and keeps me from progressing.
Having sidepaths and exploration in a dungeon wastes time and keeps me from progressing.
You literally cannot argue for one without also arguing for the other.
And most importantly, if the issue is that visiting a PC and being """forced""" to use """shitmons""" is an issue, removing the entire concept is a drastic measure. There have been a shitload of suggestions in this thread alone of better ways of doing it without ruining immersion.
