I'm assuming they were going for its psychic powers augmenting Mewtwo itself, beyond just grip strength and sprint speed, and having Mew's - as well as every other pokemon's - DNA and technique capacity.
Hardly anything on it beyond LGPE's dex entry

One of those is a clear continuation and evolution of Charizard, the other is zard X.

Do we ever actually see Mewtwo in any other game or media actually do this besides GumGum Pistol shit apart from this one animation? Or is this ever mentioned in any form of flavour text?
Because if not it's fucking bizarre to think that this seemingly key gimmick to this Mega is never actually touched upon bar an animation most people will never see.

In the manga at least, human DNA was used to complete Mewtwo since they didn't have enough genetic material from Mew

Mega Mewtwo X makes Mewtwo more "human", while Mega Mewtwo Y makes it more like Mew
