>>47863651>Pokemon doesn't seem to give a lick of a shit about consistent lore. I don't know why anyone would even argue over it.for me it's because it used to. they put a reasonable amount of effort into it – "well if azurill existed, why didn't breeding marill give you azurill in gen 2?" so they added incenses, vs just 'it does now, that's it' – and you can map out the timeline of RB/RS > GS/DP > BW > B2W2 fairly easily. it started getting a ..little? weird with remakes but it wasn't until XY it got dicey (but you could give it the benefit of the doubt) and it took until USUM to realize it wasn't something they actually were putting much thought or effort into
i'm a recovering timeline autist and i try here and there to help people understand why this isn't worth your time or energy, but it's disappointing to see how often people willfully have blinders on. i basically did the same from XY to USUM (2013–2017) so i understand it might take a while, but for me it was more "it's ok, they can fix it next time" until it was obvious they weren't going to fix it
i don't know what keeps autists going right now except a sort of intrinsic need for their obsession to be more important than it is. it's like normies who want their marvel movies to get oscars so they can feel they're engaging with cinema as an art form, because otherwise they're willfully engaging in the infantilization of cinema
sorry, turboautists in this thread, you missed the golden age of movies, and you also missed the first 10-15 years where pokemon lore actually existed and was pretty good. you're making sand castles and declaring yourselves kings, oblivious to fact you're playing about in the ruins of actual empires
