Haven’t done VGC since ORAS/USUM

This is my first competition in Gen 8 and I’m looking to break in and go to worlds next year

What can I expect? Any tips?

gen8 killed my mood for vgc. Every little improvement they make is constantly hampered by their need for a generational gimmick, and this time around that even killed showderp. The dex cut did nothing to improve balance especially after the DLCs, and dynamax essentially decides any battle.

I took my younger brother to a VGC tournament, expecting to see kids his age and it was full of fucking neckbeards. I was worried about leaving him alone, so I stayed and waited and the smell was fucking unbearable. Organiser was nice though.

This might come to a surprise to you anon but while a new generational gimmicks are obnoxious the real problem is the huge powercreep we get each gen. Even without gimmicks we always getting a bunch of shit which tears the meta in half, stuff like: Rillaboom, Dragapult, Regielek, The kung-fu bears, the intimidating cats of healthy meta, the tapus of healthy meta, etc.
