Like you know China but only in our world. You wonder what its like in this world. The history it had with Pokemon now. What its like for Arcanine there, etc. Same thing with places like Guyana where Mew was found. IT was still the fantasmical world of Pokemon or whatever but the places are those you could look at at a map. Or imagine what your own area would be like.
Nowadays you don't get that and only get references to things we already know I.E Kalos or Unova and now Galar will only be mentioned as other places but say hints or tidbits about PokeGermany, or Italy or even Mexico or whatever not so much. This to me at least is why I kinda miss it being our world.
