Definitely SwSh. Not having all of my Pokemon in the game, and around the time SwSh came out I started to become really into ribbons due to the title mechanic that was added for them. Both the Dexcut and the lack of ribbons on most of the Pokemon I own kinda just burnt me the hell out since I hate having to rebreed for a Pokemon I already worked for, both because it's extra effort and it's effectively burning an attachment I made with the first. Doesn't help that they effectively cucked a bunch of Pokemon out of having every single ribbon with this shit. Guess I'll never have a Ribbon Master Houndoom got from XD bc it'll never get the Galar Champion, Battle Tower, and Ranked Master ribbons. Thanks, Gayfreak.
I've had much more fun giving myself HIV by trying to complete the Pokedex in the gen 3 games with only one copy of Emerald, FR, and LG, than I have with SwSh.

I wish there were more ways to interact with pokemon. Just training and these little mini games don‘t really cut it for me. Give them more personality outside of their nature, add customization.

competitive killed my love for pokemon, before battling agaisnt the stronges mons was sort of like a boss battle, but in competitive everyone is forced to use the meta so your kind of forced into what you can use. Gen 3 meta tho had tons of bromons, but starting with gen 5 you get start getting these weird creatures that seem more like something youd catch and box rather than use extensivly. I dont know why i keep playing it just seems to suck the soul out of it.

Exactly. All Pokémon are equally good and I'm pretty sure the most unpopular the Pokémon is, the bigger is the love its fans have for it.

I'm sure most of these fans that have an unpopular Pokémon that didn't make the cut are still very upset.

Objectmons are shit. There is nothing wrong with eeveelutions outside of penis envy that they get more autism fans and porn than whatever Pokemon you like. Pokemon stadium was more than just 3d pokemon. It had fun minigames (sometimes broken) and a neat tournament set up. There is literally nothing wrong with Pokemon Ranger outside of it possibly enabling you to be retarded and fuck up your touch screen. Act like a contrarian little shit or zoomer all you want people genuinely enjoyed the anime. Atleast kanta/johto for sure.

I think my love for the series was already being tested when XY came out (I immediately realized there was nothing to do after beating the game), but it was truly broken for the first time when USUM was announced

I was still a kind of stupid kid who didn't realize the series was on an annual release schedule and I was expecting a typical third version a year or two later with a bunch of old stuff like contests and a new cool building in Hau'oli (which kind of happened but not in the way I wanted it), and seeing the exact same game but now twice as expensive kind of woke me up I guess? stupid phrasing I know but it made me realize that the series was going down a dark path and kind of made me start looking into specifically monster-taming alternatives

SwSh truly broke my interest in any future titles, but I still play the old shit and i'm looking into getting some spin-offs I missed out on to get that "new pokemon game" feeling again.
I'd say the burgeoning monster taming genre has great alternatives but in all honesty they're all shit and I don't look forward to many. so many issues with their design philosophies, funding methods, repetitive gameplay... I wish people would just try to break the mold once in a while instead of doing what the big guys are doing but worse
