I finally decided to get Sword or Shield. It doesn't look super impressive but I don't want to keep feeling left out.
I've been really stumped about which version to get so I was hoping for some advice from people who've played it.

I prefer the exclusive pokemon from shield for the most part. As for the trainers, base game shield definitely wins out since Melony looks pretty nice and Allister seems interesting at least while Bea is ugly and Gordie seems meh.
The problem is the DLC. I really like Klara from first appearances since she looks creepy and dangerous while Avery looks like a complete fag. This almost might be a dealbreaker for Shield.

Do you think Sword might be worth it, especially with Klara? Or is Avery maybe not THAT bad? (i'd still feel bad about missing out on Klara, but Shield really seems like the way to go besides that)
