PKHeX actually has a disclaimer that they don't support save editing for official competitions. It basically spoonfeeds you how to make a Pokemon look legit, I'd probably get annoyed too if my program's userbase was too dumb and lazy use it properly.

you can, because the game's hack check is worse than pkhex's

it won't allow very obviously hacked shit that has illegal move/ability combinations but there are subtle parts of the pokemon like memories and relearnable moves that you can use to prove the pokemon is hacked.

Nope. In order for a Pokemon to get the mark that qualifies it for any sort of competitive play (like ranked battles), you have to delete any moves it can't learn in the current game.

A tournament player shouldn't be hacking their team in; normal Wi-Fi battles are no big deal to hack for, but this is means something. You get wings all over isle of armor sea for specific sets, the sand lady who cleanses all EV's, game shits money at you so you should EASILY be able to buy the stat drinks you need...

I mean, I realize the meta changes all the time and spreads become irrelevant but damn, it's not hard to just use the sand lady or grab another Pokemon.

The only really shitty thing about spreads is that you'll ALWAYS have an inferior special attacker if you're running any Attack IV's. Like, cmon GF if you're gonna cull shit at least cull Foul Play and make confusion damage do rocky helmet amounts instead of forcing everyone to have aneurism over Attack IV's.

Most people aren't going to notice it and/or know off the top of their head what is/isn't legit. I've been to a few VGC tournaments and it's amazing the amount of people who haven't entered the HoF or even bothered with a tiny bit of trainer customization. These people only play on battle sims and don't bother with the main games, which is fair enough, but they aren't going to know that a gen 6 Pokemon can't be in a dream ball.
I think it was gen 6 or 7 that showed different player stats when people were picking their moves and so many people on the VGC streams only had 0 or 1 eggs hatched.

Also Super Training and Horders weren't fun, they were just fast. They got annoying and tedious after doing them in excess like any other form of competitive prep in Pokemon. The difference now is that they don't waste my time with shitty minigames and painfully slow wild encounters and I can just juice up my Pokemon with an excess of cheap vitamins and call it a day

That's because PKHeX automatically fixes some of the dumb errors. You can check legality directly from the slot by holding control.

I attended my local VGC qualifiers a few times as an spectator. The organizer was a very down-to-earth, transparent guy. He told me he was aware the vast majority of pokemon participating were genned but couldn't do anything about it since he'd have no grounds to defend his argument because (and I quote) "pokemon properly made with pkhex are indistinguishable from legit ones"; also, since the genning itself didn't affect the matches outcome and the in-game hack checker said the pokemon were ok, he just allowed them to pass.

He knew the pokémon were genned because he was part of a forum were people openly discussed this stuff.

Now this is my guess but I also think TPCi doesn't care much about it because allowing the public eye to know the legitimacy of their tournaments has been tainted since the very first VGC could heavily harm the brand. It could also cast light on the almost arbitrary walls they have erected around the possibility of getting battle ready pokémon.

The artument falls apart the moment you point to VGCs ruleset, where it states that no pokemon generated through external means (ie. pkhex or action replay) are allowed. But this seems to be a competence of who can cry "it's not illegal if can't catch me" the hardest.

Imagine in Street Fighter you just started off with Ryu and the only attack he has is his jab. You have to beat the arcade mode to unlock the rest of his moveset. Then you have to beat it multiple times again so his moves all do the max damage they can. Then you have to do it again to unlock Ken. Then you have to do this process over for Ken. It keeps going and going until you have the entire roster. But this is all attached to RNG so there's a chance you don't get anything from arcade, so you'll have to keep on going through it. Congratulations, after all this bullshit grind for weeks you can finally play online and actually develop your skill.
Do you see the problem? It just takes too long and RNG is unforgiving. Why shouldn't I cheat and immediately go online?

I'd trade off minmaxing for confusion, foul play, beast boost, etc. if it meant getting rid of the tedious grind. They could repurpose bottlecaps to skip over those stats instead of maxing them out.
It's completely trivial as well. I was able to create that exact feature in gen 2, and I barely understand Assembly.

The issue is 0ivs do not yet have a cap. So you have a very unfair advantage against someone who plays normally if you get a 0 attack or speed legend.

This would require a bunch of resets to acquire. Normal breeding for comp is super easy now the advantage comes from the legends having 0 ivs. If they released a bptt;e cap to set an IV to 0 this would be a non issue. Finally the only thing you would have to reset for are shinies which are purely cosmetic.

The rule they have against cheated Pokemon just never seems to be enforced. Unless the Pokemon were to have an illegal move or ability, which no one competing at the top level is dumb enough to miss. So basically, if you wanna compete in top level VGC, don't waste your time acquiring your Pokemon legally. You're just wasting your time.

It's not enforced because the hacked mons are only distinguishable from legit ones in ways that the hack check doesn't care about, and even then that's only the case if you're a lazy retard and don't bother to make the mon as legit as possible. I've been genning mons for use in tournaments and online for years and I've never gotten caught because I'm not a retard and take the extra 5 minutes to do it correctly.

They could simply put a rental service in the game to provide you with battle ready mons in exchange for in-game money or something like that, but they won't because:

1. That'd mean they are reducing pokémon creatures to mere data that can be changed to suit the selfish needs of a traqiner who has never actually trained his pokémon. To most of us, that's a non issue but TPC is very adamant about preserving the identity of pokémon as "living, sentient creatures".

2. (The most obvious one) Some egge moves require you to get pokémon from the other version of the game. Meaning you'll either have to buy it or at the very least pay for HOME to access the GTS in a non-restricted way.
