If you make a game 'inspired' on BOTW and appealing to BOTW shit but cannot match it, it'll be seen as not as good and fail in their eyes... Ironically, though, at least up to this moment, Gamefreak didn't actually promise shit so I wonder what they'll blame. That is why it won't flop, motherfuckers will preorder and buy with barely any info, parrot the stupid 'not final' shit they like to do, and when it fails, instead of having an apex of self-critique, they'll act surprised and constantly compare it to BOTW.
Mind that this isn't defending GameFreak, but criticising blind idiots that buy into shit then get backed into a corner on their own. Think Joe, who you can see contradict himself several times over the years - sometimes he contradicts himself over a week (e.g. lose his shit over Go but defend Unite's transactions; or just today, a one day record - prop up the Direct's time and speculating "more" would come to then start getting angry that people just mention new games/a new generation). In fact, I can realistically see Joe using this specific game to scapegoat his hate at once he's done covering it for his site, since he won't lose money then, and it'll make him look fair and neutral...
