Pokemon isn't simple at all anymore, it's lost it's touch because we don't like the new designs. It started to go down generation 4 and above. Why?
In the first 3 generations it was simple mons. Such as a turtle with cannons, rock with arms even rayquaza was simple. It was a long dragon. Octilley was an octopus,
Now we have humanoid looking rabbits that can play soccer or a wrestling cat. unbound hoopa. Rotom Forms.
Generation 4 - 8 feel as though they are putting more "unnatural" designs on items.
It isn't this "soul" crap its just that it's not simple anymore.
People crap on generation 1 mons because of their SUPER simple designs but thats what made pokemon actually good. everyday animals/objects become "evolved" into cool but simple designs, everything was easy to follow.
There are some simple designs in the later generations and they are also some of the most loved mons from those generations. Such as corviknight, it's a simple bird with armour, it's different from all other birds but takes on that simple formula we are actually used to.
