They realized your collection doesnt necessarily need to come from the main series games, you can collect monsters from spinoffs, apps, whatever. So HOME is the hub. And the main series' main purpose is to present/advertise new species through a story mode. If you want to actually catch them all you'll need to get every new game app or spinoff and send from there to HOME. There will probably be a separate, specialized battling game or app in the future and the main series wont even have competitive battling anymore, lowering production cost and time of each gen to shit them out faster
