Lol filtered by few routes.
It's especially retarded because there's in fact extremely fast alternative way to get to Fuschia via Cycling Road.
It's good design - you either pick slower route that is filled with basically free exp or pick quicker, shorter way but at expense of way less trainers to defeat.
Or do both, nothing stops you from kicking ass of all trainers on both sides.

Artowkr of Kanto from back in the 90s implied part of Cycling Road was a bridge that would raise to let ships over.
Though the game itself, especially remakes, and even modern artwork of Kanto completely forget this and it's just landlocked and looks like shit.
They left it to our imagination to fill in the gap from lack of technology. then when they got the technology they were too incompetent to do it correctly because muh faithful gen one.

It's ironic that every time they try to be faithful to Gen 1 it ends up being the complete opposite.
For how integral Gen 2 mons were to Gen 1 marketing like Marill and Togepi, they sure are intent on pretending they never existed and suddenly were only relevant the moment GS released.
I wish I could pretend to care about the land-locked cycling road, but when they've gone TWO Kanto remakes without so much as a functional daycare or day/night cycle it honestly makes me seethe that they spit in the fans of true Gen 1 fans so much.
