Well, defensively yea, but it's excellent with its offenses and the ones wreaking havoc right now are the ones who completely capitalised off their offensive typing. Just goes to show that even a relatively ass typing like Ice could dominate with the right stat spreads

I agree that it’s offense is incredible, but moves like ice beam are so ubiquitous that there’s no reason going for an an actual Ice type Pokémon. There are plenty of strong Pokémon that can use ice beam and obliterate your opponent despite not having STAB, so why go for an ice type Pokémon if your move is going to kill it anyway? (Not even including the possibility of calm mind or other stat changing moves). There just isn’t much payoff. I see some people mentioning ice teams but all that does it further cripple you against ice counters, and it’s only effective against players who weren’t prepared for it, which means the more it’s used, the less viable it gets (even if it is theoretically “good). Because of this, ice as a type just cannot be considered in the same league as more flexible types.

Yes, crippling yourself against the most common types is not worth it. It’s much better getting 6+ ice beams out of your Pokémon than 1 or 2 before it faints from a flamethrower or literally any other common move.

None of the Pokémon that have this ability are good. Even arctovish is weak to 4 common types and only resists water and ice which is a joke.

Only reduces damage by 1/3 in battle and most ice type Pokémon that you would be using this alongside are frail enough for this to not matter, especially since it doesn’t protect against contact moves which happen to include a lot of its weaknesses.

As individuals, and even then, there’s almost always something that does it’s job better. Regardless, even considering such a low pool of contenders doesn’t make ice good considering all the other Pokémon that have ice and are absolute trash.

Alright for Garmanitan, it'll probably be Uber regardless of what type it is I'll give you that, but how hard STAB Ice hits alongside its excellent coverage moves certainly did aid it
For Glastier, well it's a bulky Ice type so it's pretty much destined to be pretty bad outside of dedicated trick room, it's stats doesn't play to the types strengths
I'd reckon Cloyster wouldn't be as good as it is if it didn't have a spammable 100% accurate 5 hit move which could only be afforded by Ice types, the only other move I could think off is Pin Missle and Bug as an offensive typing is realms below Ice
Weavile and Mamoswine are so good precisely because of how deadly their STABs are, which you know, includes Ice.
Also, the reason why Kyurem is hailed as one of the most broken mons in OU is because of how disgusting STAB Ice Beams and Freeze Dries are off a 130 SP Attack, so why use ice as just a coverage move when it could be abused to an extent where it could straight up cleave teams?

Wow, you're right anon. Every type should have no weaknesses. It doesn't matter that Aurorus has less weaknesses than Tyranitar, one of the best Pokemon in the game. The only category where Ice beats Dark is number of Ubers, which only a Pokemon with Calyrex-Ice’s stat spread can even be more viable than Urshifu.
Also notice how Urshifu and Darmanitan-G are the same rank, despite the fact that Darmanitan needs a built in Choice Band as an ability, but Urshifu only needs 2 120 BP (Wicked Blow being effectively 120 BP) STAB to be Ubers?
Notice how Yveltal is S rank and arguably the best Pokemon in the game, while the 3 Ice Ubers need 165+ offenses and high BP moves, with only 1 being B+ tier?
Notice the trend that need to be part-[good type] or have some other attribute to be in the same tiers as what otherwise would be regular Pokemon with Dark typings?
Notice that out of the 32 FE Ice types, 21 of them are in the lowest tier and 11 unranked, while the 32 FE Dark types have only 10 ZU Pokemon and only 1 is unranked?
At least Bug has an excuse to having so many shitmons, since it has to have an obligatory early route shitmon to teach players about evolving, and the non-early route bug types tend to be good.

There are literally the same amount of Fully Evolved Ice types in SWSH as there are Fully Evolved Dark types.
Including NFE and LC, there is only 2 more Dark types as there are Ice types.

Not only is Urshifu's ability a massive reason it got banned like with G-Darm, with it making effective scouting and PP Stalling borderline impossible, but you need to remember that Wicked Blow always critting gives it way more utility than a flat 120, as it completely ignore stat changes on either end just short of a Burn.
That's not even mentioning that Urshifu on its own arguably wasn't broken, it was the Slowtwins at the time (Slowbro and G-Slowking) enabling it to force out any and all resistances to its STABs proper by threat of a meaty Future Sight, whereas G-Darm was booted entirely on its own merit.
I agree that Ice is underwhelming overall, but this was a bad comparison

Regardless, Urshifu rarely sees Intimidate in Ubers and Slowtwins are not good enough to be used in such an environment anyways.

Yes, but having a free Attack doubler is way more broken and neither of the Pokemon with said ability are in OU currently. You can't look at things in a vacuum like that.

It was controversial, but ban talk didn't start until after the Future Sight strat came in and started fucking the ladder and touneys sideways. Toxapex is also controversial, the label means jack shit.
