Shiny hunterisms have always amused me.
They’re supposed to be rare, and rarity is apparently equivalent with worth, so to decrease their rarity is to devalue their worth. But up until gen 8 there was no difference between shinies no matter how they were found; genned, MM’d, chain’d, or randomly, with or without charm, only you knew its inherent value.
They also usually only do this for their own collection, respectable humans don’t breed shinies for online clout or recognition, so ultimately it is about collecting alternate color jpg’s that no one else will see but you and no one else but you will value them as highly as you do because only you know their worth being the one who obtained them. My only question is, how do you go on living like a supreme masochist?
Outside of gen 8 all shinies are the same, there are no special rare variant shinies, there’s no way to know for sure it’s legit or you obtained it the way you did: why do you force yourself to get what you want in the absolute slowest, most grueling way possible when there’s absolutely nothing different in the end result? You are wasting your life away staring and resetting for different pixels that people who chase them the easy way or cheat feel just as happy and content to have or obtain that shiny because to them their value is the color itself.
Perhaps it’s advanced autism, an impassable rigidity, that demands you do it the hardest way imaginable, but there is zero function to that other than it meaning more to you and only you, and at the cost of an intense amount of your dedication and time, it is simply a waste.
Please, shiny hunters, just gen your favorite shinies and play with them like Arceus intended. I hate to see you guys waste your life away playing this game, but especially wasting it doing a mini game that is essentially bashing your head into walls until you find one that doesn’t make you bleed.
