They’re all pretty nice choices, everything works ingame. Feraligatr is a clear choice due to coverage but Typhlosion is decent since there are a ton of water choice and not many Fire types. Meganium is also pretty good since it has some nice utility moves and you’ll never be underlevelled if you don’t rotate your teams much, as should be the case. I have a great time whenever I start a new file on this absolutely amazing game, the peak of the series.

anon, when was the last time you played HGSS? Unless you're using like a team of 3 you will be slightly underleveled after bugsy until pryce, then you'll be significantly underleveled from claire til you finish the e4, at which point you'll be overleveled until red, at which point you'll be 20-30 levels underleveled

Why would anyone use a Pokémon that evolves after you are done with the Elite Four?

it seems that you've barely played HGSS to begin with, the underlevel across the whole HGSS playthrough is horrendous but the real deal is that fact that all of the Johto starters suck, you'll end up with an overleveled shitmon performing as much as a single underleveled mon

if your higher level on the party is 38 then it's guaranteed that you've never beaten Elite 4 to begin with
