Now I'm imagining of a G-rated version of the "fisherman and genie", in which some poor sap fishes out the Prison Bottle and Hoopa threatens him and all that, but they turn the subsequent storytelling into a contest and come around to each other. Maybe a cute anime filler episode.

Kinda. I don't remember what it was in particular but there was a story about a man who asked his god buddy what his true form was and he was lol okay and it was a monster with hundreds of arms and eyes.
