Dustox has a more useful typing and stats that better compliment its ability. Beautifly is an inferior butterfree which is already an inferior vivillion.
Even with the stat change Dustox is superior to Beautifly.

one of these pokemon gets an evolution, a mega evolution for that evolution, significantly more spotlight in most regional dexes and is constantly brought up as one of the coolest generation 1 pokemon ever

the other has 1 mega evolution that was utter shit compared to most of them and has barely been showcased in any spin-offs or extended media outside of maybe a few anime episodes

guess which one is which

I always considered Yveltal to be pretty underpowered when compared to Xerneas, just because of how stupidly broken Geomancy is. Oblivion Wing also sounds like a Dark type move, even though it isn't.
