So now that the dust has settled, was it a good idea to split the Sinnoh remakes into an extremely faithful remake and a vastly different prequel, or would you have preferred a more traditional remake like FRLG/HGSS/ORAS?

It's just weird that we don't have a true mainline game. If they just updated SWSH to have the full national dex so you could transfer everything into it then it would be alright.

In all honesty? I’d say just from what we’ve seen today BDSP is already on the same level as FRLG and a little below HGSS. If anything ORAS is the one that sticks out like a sore thumb

Considering how shit ORAS was, I think faithful emulation of the originals + cosmetic/national dex filler is the best we could hope for. I'm still not going to buy it since it's bound to be featureless but I've significantly let up on the idea that it had to be a Gen 8 style game.

Arceus still looks like shit. What's the point of trying to go in a different direction with the franchise if the combat is still the same bullshit?

At the bare minimum I would have expected it to be a single game, splitting remakes is pointless since they no longer try to go hogwild with content like HGSS did

Still, looks like a decent game at least

Legends of Arceus looks like ass, outside of the theming, the concept ain't good, and the gameplay looks meh

They'll probably do like they did with LGPE and Gigantamax Pikachu/Eevee: if you have a BDSP/PLA save file in your Switch you can download a SwSh DLC to make it compatible with the Sinnoh/Hisui pokemon transferred from HOME

also it really isnt that hard to faithfully remake platinum with decent looking graphics and competitive gameplay. its like gamefreak just fucking forgot the reason why dppt was so exciting was because of the physical special split and how it was the first game to really popularize competitive battling. now we're lucky if they even decide to keep the battle frontier and they wait for the end of the trailer to be like "sorry no competitive in this game"

BDSP doesn't look to have the Frontier so I'd definitely say it isn't as good as HGSS, but it looks solid enough regardless.

If it were LGPE overworld with all the other stuff itd have way less hate, though of course them jewing us into buying Platinum DLC and the survival zone guaranteed backlash. And thats assuming we're ((lucky)) enough for them to actually add it in instead of leaving it incomplete like ORAS

I'm glad Legends is giving GameFreak to do an even bigger departure that they were going for with Let's Go.
I couldn't care less about BDSP, but they did rope me in since they actually cared to add in the bare minimum features like following and shit that should have been in.
