well this does take place like a long time ago. These guys are researchers not trainers. The trailers for both games looked pretty good. Don't know why I thought /vp/ would have some good discussion threads.

Completing the Pokédex and exploring the map are the best part of Pokémon.

Pokémon battles are for autists. The Trainer Tower is for kids with no life. Competitive is for incels and trannies who think Pokémon is serious business. Breeding is mind numbing (and deprecated now that injection is so easy.)

Honestly this is pretty neat, people have always acted like "catching them all" was a big deal when the games treated it like an afterthought, it's nice to get a game where catching is actually what matters, and battling is simply a method of facilitating captures as well as genuine self-defense. Being able to get physically injured by Pokemon in the wild is a great addition, it really makes it feel like you're exploring.

this dex thing was the worst part. why did they just put images of the 3d models here. wouldnt it make sense to have some japanese brush stroke art or sketches of the pokemon seen? or at least believable sepia photographs for the time. the 3d models on a traditional notebook is jarring
