Pretty much every new addition shown so far is one of the cut Pokemon from SWSH. There's a decent chance they're using this game as a dumping ground for the last 200 or so Pokemon they didn't get around adding to SWSH.

Honestly, not me. I get it though. We're all so used to GameFreak, I think we're all sorta PTSD'd out. Remember though, the only member involved in BDSP from GameFreak is Junichi Masuda himself, and DP are his brainchildren. That, and what ILCA has shown, give me hope.

The national dex was removed in SM and not in a dex since. Thinking that a game would have it after 4 games without it would've been logical.

Doesn't change the fact that Gen 7 ran even worse than Gen 6 despite having less features and marked the removal of the National Dex as a series staple.
BDSP are a direct result of following the principles that Gen 7 pioneered. As shit as Gen 6 was, at least you can call them the bare minimum of the standards a Pokemon game should meet, even if they were bottom of the barrel garbage.

It ran worse because of the models/artstyles. You may have noticed how it didn't use the chibi style that gen 6 did?

They've been consistent about the new policy so far.
What they haven't been consistent about is their narrative surrounding it.
If the intention wasn't to ever implement the new policy then they simply wouldn't have announced it.
