Casual detected. Back when Emerald came out all my friends that had it were crazy about the frontier. Getting a symbol was the most hype shit ever, we'd record the battles and show them to each other, strategize over what teams to bring (even though we didn't know shit about EVs and IVs), and would just spend so much time there

We only had Battle Frontier when EVs and IVs and nature were cumbersome to manage and using competitive-built mons in a Battle Frontier in a modern gen would be much more accessible than it was in the past

so what's the actual argument for why the battle frontier is good and absolutely nothing can be better than it. I don't get what's the appeal of facing off against NPC's with teams that all of a sudden can perfectly counter whatever team you had used and thus ending your streak which takes forever to reach to the very end.

Because it's a great incentive to ev train, learn about team composition, and therefore train pokemon you otherwise wouldn't. It's good endgame because of the things you do that aren't even spent IN the actual frontier itself: the planning, the learning, and the way it makes you a better player

Ok that's fair. The BP shops definitely make it more appearant about EV training. However the Battle Tower itself is pretty unpredictable. At any possible moment a trainer could have a team that counters every Pokémon on your team or whatever setup you made with it. Worse part is in D/P you have ONLY the battle tower.

I just wish there was something better that could be made to top the Battle Frontier so that people see that obviously, it isn't perfection.

It's fun as fuck and the characters running it look cool. It gives you something to strive for after you complete the Pokemon League. Good for worldbuilding and gives you more time with the game.
