>>47940848Pokemon sapience in the anime is really basic. They're anthropomorphic but in the most basic sense, not that much different than a cartoon dog and in cases even less than that.
To put it in example since some brought up Looney Tunes, the difference between Bugs Bunny and Sylvester the Cat. Sylvester can talk and also exhibits anthropomorphic behavior but he's not to the level of Bugs. Bugs is a person while Sylvester is Granny's pet cat. Pokemon, even in the anime, do not show the same level of anthropomorphism as Sylvester the Cat but yet retain their status as pets. Pokemon do not talk aside from Meowth, they do not behave as human as Sylvester.
All display of sapience does not matter because Pokemon are in a framework where they're shown being treated as pets such as being played with cat toys, fetching balls, being petted and generally being treated no diferent than your pet dog. The anime also has them straight up eating dog food. And than you have games like New Pokemon Snap making them all sound like actual animals. So you get my point, you can keep screeching about things like that but it doesn't matter because the framework of the franchise doesn't care and even the Pokemon themselves display less anthropomorphic behavior than most other cartoon pets.
