I mean you know that "20 eps from now on, he´ll get badge 7" or "Around episode 34 he´ll fight the evil teams leader" which makes the story, thanks to GF´s storytelling, way too linear and straight forward. besides the swift appearence of your fav coomer girl, you couldnt enjoy it since its basically a slow replay of an old version you already played.
and people would be angry if sidequests etc wouldve been left out.
just like when a book gets turned into an movie.
Having said that, i think the story following a single person can become so much more. CAN. there have been episodes who were just as boring, but also unexpected stuff like the galar plot suddenly appearing, or unnamed side characters taking the spotlight, can be quite fun.
and at least we always got the female protag as sidekick to Ash´s journey
